Tyreel Stud is a renowned boutique agistment, thoroughbred breeding and bloodstock development facility set on more than 100 acres in the beautiful Hawkesbury Valley.
The Tyreel story began in 1986 when the late Jim Fleming redeveloped the property into one of the most famous broodmare operations in the Southern Hemisphere. A former chairman of the Sydney Turf Club and eminent owner-breeder, Fleming chose Tyreel Stud as an ideal location to grow thoroughbred horses.
Tyreel’s secure water supply and moderate climate provide an outstanding environment for our future stars of the track to ensure the optimal growth and development of all our horses.
Many of our clients also choose Tyreel for its close proximity to Sydney, which allows convenient stud visits so our clients can take an active role in the development and management of their bloodstock investments.
Today, current owner-operators Linda and Laurence Monds are dedicated to building on Fleming’s impressive legacy with their peerless level of commitment and passion for the business.
Linda, Laurence and family reside onsite and take a hands-on management approach to ensure the best outcomes for all Tyreel’s clients.
They achieve this through developing close insights into the needs of each individual horse to design personalised management, preparation, and feed programmes overseen by an expert on-staff team, along with specialist nutritionists, farriers and vets.
All our broodmares are bred to quality sires to enhance their physical genetics and compliment their racing ability, while maintaining a commercial product that enables us to sell only the best quality yearlings that will go on in the future to succeed on the track.
Some of the facilities at Tyreel Stud include two quality yearling barns, horse walker, lunge ring, six-day yards, 14 yearling runs and a hospital barn/maternity ward with a foaling yard and 10 smaller grass paddocks. During the breeding season our mares are video monitored and alarmed around the clock.
Looking to the future, Linda and Laurence will continue to lead the industry with an individual approach to all Tyreel’s horses that combines the latest technology and best-practice expertise with their driving personal passion for breeding top-class racehorses.
